The Physiology Department at Fazaia Medical College Islamabad plays a pivotal role in medical education. It serves as the foundation for understanding the fundamental principles governing the human body's functions and mechanisms from cellular levels to the organs and systems. The curriculum of Physiology is consistent with accreditation standards and guidelines of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) and College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). It provides an appropriate balance of coursework and lab work to the undergraduate (MBBS) and post-graduate (FCPS) students. Faculty

The Physiology Department of Fazaia Medical College boasts a distinguished faculty comprising of accomplished teachers and researchers dedicated to advancing the understanding of human physiology and its application in healthcare. With expertise spanning various fields of medical physiology such as; blood & cardiovascular physiology, respiratory & environmental physiology, neurophysiology, renal physiology and endocrinology, the faculty members are engaged in innovative research projects, contributing to the evolving knowledge in physiology. The curriculum is crafted according to the guidelines of HEC & PMDC to blend foundational principles with contemporary advancements, preparing the students for the dynamic landscape of healthcare. Facilities

The Physiology Lab is equipped with cutting-edge facilities tailored for conducting comprehensive research in human physiology. It features state-of-the-art measurement instruments including blood pressure monitors, electrocardiography (ECG) machines, and spirometers, enabling precise data collection for studying cardiovascular and respiratory functions. Exercise physiology equipment such as treadmills and ergometers allow for investigating the effects of physical activity on the body, while electrophysiology setups cater to the study of electrical activity in cells and tissues, while computational tools aid in data analysis and modeling. The lab also upholds stringent safety standards, ensuring a secure environment for researchers and students alike. In general, these facilities provide an ideal setting for advancing knowledge in human physiology and laying the foundation of future health professionals.
The facilities in the form of capacious lecture hall, a well-equipped Physiology laboratory and a PBL room furnished with latest audio-visual teaching aids; are designed to complement theoretical learning, enabling the students to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world applications. The emphasis on practical skills enhances the overall learning experience and prepares the students for challenges they may encounter in their future careers.

Physiology is the science of life and is of central importance in medicine. It provides a thorough understanding of normal body function, so as to know; how the body goes wrong in disease to enable more effective treatment to reinstate normalcy of body functions.
